I have been asking friends and they say things that contradict one anothers statements. So which cable will support a 1080p monitor and utilize the 144hz refresh rate?

Solution
HDMI 1.4b only supports 120hz from what I can tell, so you need one of the following:

Dual Link DVI-D
HDMI 2.0
Display Port 1.1 or better

This needs to be the proper standard at the GPU, the cable and the Monitor for it to work.
If you use a DVI-D or display port, you will have no problem with 1080p @ 144 Hz.

HDMI on the other hand, there are multiple revisions of HDMI (1.0, 1.4, 2.0, etc.).
I believe you need ver. 1.4 or higher to utilize >60Hz.

Correct my if i'm wrong.

you are going to want Display port 1.2 or 1.1 which ever the monitor supports, but 1.2 will be backwards compatible so it's safe. I think HDMI only goes up to 90hz but don't quote me.
