[SOLVED] Which Cable Should I Use For 144hz?

I have a 1080ti connected to an EG220 from Acer (the cheapest brand new FHD 144hz monitor I could find), thing is , I have two cables : an HDMI 2.1 and a Display Port 1.2 . Should I use the HDMI because it is newer and has a higher bandwidth, should I use the Display Port even though it is older (I noticed people have a fetish for DP, my last GPU was a 970 and I used DVI all my life xD, and the guy who sold the 1080ti to me told me I should use DP no matter what, but my old monitor - ASUS VG 278 HV could only display 144hz using DVI, it wouldn't accept 144hz in HDMI no matter which HDMI cable I used, because the monitor couldn't accept it through HDMI no matter what, and it had no display port entrances, that's why I "upgraded" the monitor too) or at this point it really does NOT matter at all which I use and I could go for whatever because it will NOT make ANY difference in the REAL world? The only thing I could think of is whether the seller of your 1080Ti told you to use DP no matter what, simply because the HDMI port was broken.

Other than that...Nothing I know of.

If the monitor supports G-Sync or G-Sync via Freesync then you would need to use DP, otherwise I am not aware of a reason to pick one over the other.
