This is not for gaming, just want a little more pop out of a desktop I have in my bedroom(using internal graphics atm), acts as the media center for others TVs in the house but it does run the TV in the room through HDMI and monitor through VGA. Other than that its a general purpose computer, web browsing, video encoding, etc.

And right now I run raid 0 through the internal controller, but have thought about going raid 10 in the future and have considered whether i want to keep the only x16 slot open for a raid card, something to consider

$45 GeForce GT 730 DirectX 12 1GB 128-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0

vs

$30 GeForce GT 610 DirectX 11 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready

The GT 730 is $15 more, I know not much, but price IS an issue, so for my purposes and value which card should i get

Oh and I run linux on occasion, have always had AMD graphics for that and used the open source drivers, but have read geforce has good linux drivers...(usually booting off a stick, but also have dual boot set up on the drives, persistent either way)

just something to consider, if linux would be an issue I was looking at

Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

but it actually is the most expensive card out of the 3 by a slight amount, and is obviously much less card, although I doubt I would notice for my purposes so just something to consider.

Hi,

If we compare those two GT610 has higher GPU clocks and consumes less power than his rival GT730, but GT730 has better rendering power and higher memory clock speed as well.
What all this means to you?
It means that you will NOT see big difference when using any of these two, and since we have to consider money/performance ratio I recommend you to go for GT610.

Don't worry about using GeForce cards with Linux. It has all necessary drivers and everything works just fine.

Peace!
