Which card for rendering/gaming?

I am planning my build out. After much reading and a few posts, I have started getting the final machine down. It will be a Intel 4930k (more cores for use when rendering over like a 4770) built on a asus x79 deluxe board with 4x 8Gb ram for a total of 32Gb. My question is what card to use with this setup. I am leaning towards the GEForce cards as I have read they get good reviews from gamers, and theysupport adobe mecury, which is important. I do not, however, have any clue what card I should try to get. I am trying to find the best card that will work for rendering while still being a good card for gaming. The gaming is not priority no.1, but it is mo.2 or 3 behind the rendering andbeing able to use the computer as a basic media center. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Last minute addendum, I use Linux quite often so need a card that is compatible.

You gave a a lot of un-useful information rather than giving your budget. State your budget before asking for a card.

Make sure your chosen software is compatible/recommended with which ever video card you choose...http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html

My friend does a lot of 3d rendering and swear by the GTX 690 but it is a $1000 dollar card. I think it depends on your budget (like so many things). A good comprise might be the 770 or 760 with 4GB of vram, the more the better when rendering
