My local BestBuy has these 2 cards in stock. If you were going to buy one of them which would it be and why?

Card1

or

Card2

Please don't tell me that I should buy some different card. These 2 cards are the only options unless BestBuy gets a delivery of GTX1060's in by tomorrow.

Thank you for your help.

I would pay the extra $20 for the EVGA unit with the open air cooler were I in your shoes. Those AMD stock coolers still run relatively hot and loud.

I know you don't want other suggestions, but those 480s are still really overpriced. There are quality factory OC'd 6GB 1060s available for less than the 480s at the moment. I like the 480 a lot at its proper pricing, but availability has the priced hiked which affects the value for money.

Here's a nice OC'd 1060 in stock for $268.50: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1271029-REG/gigabyte_gv_n1060wf2oc_6gd_geforce_gtx_1060_windforce.html

You would wait a couple of days for it to arrive?

Anyways... if you're set on BestBuy and the 480, spend the extra $20 for the open air cooler.

Thank you Champion but I have family at BB so I get a discount and I highly value buying products locally. It supports our local economy and if I have a problem I just drive over to BB for the return rather than having to pay to ship it and then wait weeks for it to be returned.

Fair enough. The 480 is a solid card. Should hold up well.

If you're going to be playing AAA games and pushing the card then get the one thats 290 since it has better cooling. If you do not plan on playing thise games very often then get the cheaper one.

Surely if OP is not playing demanding games which push the card, then (s)he should save a bunch of cash on a cheaper card, not $20 less on a solid gaming card with slightly poorer cooling? Both cards are solid, mid range gaming cards which crush 1080P gaming at high to ultra settings. A casual gamer, or someone primarily interested in e-sport or other less demanding games should look to save a bunch of money with an RX 460, 750ti or 950.
