Which card to get ?!

I will not suggest not any of that gpu because it is better to get gtx 670 instead of 680 as there is 5% performance difference between gtx 680 and 670 and also $100 price difference.i suggest you to get gtx 670 2gb.but remember hd 7970 > 670 with latest drivers as both mostly perform same.you doesnot need more than 2gbv ram unless you are heavy user of skyrim+ mods.overall with more performance and better overclocking potential get hd 7970 2gb or if you want physicx and adapative vsync then go for gtx 670 2gb.Both gpu will maxout any games you throw at it.

seems the references being passed around on the internet all refer to that article. it should also be noted that the guy who wrote that article has never had anything nice to say about amd cards.

crossfire setups at the same price perform better. i can easily find dozens of different sources that all say there is no studder on their crossfire setups.

it should also be noted that the article is only referring to when you are in a low fps range. not only are the crossfire setups obtaining more fps, as to stay out of that range but lets be serious here, if someone is sporting a 7970 crossfire setup, they are never going to be gaming at 30fps. they will always be well over 60 and would never experience this supposed non smoothness that is being referred to here.

im not convinced this isnt nvidia propaghanda.

It has to do with the frame latency issues that AMD has, they have admitted to it and have stated they are working on it. It isn't very hard to get down to 30-40 FPS with crossfire if you play on multi-monitors either... All it was saying is having 50 FPS with crossfire is about the same as 40 fps with SLI. So "nvidia propaghanda" where AMD has admitted to having the issue, and see it problematic enough to spend time to try to fix it? Eh anyway do what you want with the information I don't really care.

I remember there was a thread talking about Skyrim and Bicmack who is a big AMD guy on the forums was saying that the game is weird in that if you have the ram it will use it. So pretty much he said that if it needed or not it would be used. I believe either card would be good. I would prefer the ASUS DCUII cards however the MSI lightning card has features you will not get normally on most cards if you take a look here you will see it broken down. The best high end value though at the moment is the 670 however if you decide to get a 680 that's okay as well. The reason why the Lightning card is around the same price as the 4 gigabyte card is mainly due to the fact that its a premium card like the TOP series from ASUS.
