I am in the process of building an i7 system that I want to keep cheap but still good. I was given a computer case (brand New) but I have been told that it will not be very good for my system because it will not keep it cool. I have a few cases that I am thinking about and would like to know what case people on here like and that is reliable. If it looks cool it is a bonus but I am having to save dollars on the case so that I can get better internal parts. I hope to do SLI in the future and I may eventually either do 2 HD's (one for the system and one for games) or I may try and do a RAID1.

Here is my build

i7 920
ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory
CORSAIR 750w TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply
LG Black 22X (CAV) DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X (CAV) DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD±R DVD Burner
EVGA 896-P3-1258-A1 GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 SSC Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

All of your links are broken...I would go for the CM 690 as well. Buy it in this combo and get a PSU upgrade:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.176939

Dang it!!!!!! I already bought the 750 PSU for $106. This would have been a good combo for me. Thanks for telling me about it xthekidx.

I bought it from Amazon and it is on the way. Wish I could sell it but dont think that will happen.

So far it is a toss up between the CM 690 which I didnt link for $80 or the Antec 300 where I can get it for $50 at Micro center

Dang decisions!

If you plan on running SLI in the future then it's a no brainer..... CM 690 > Antec 300

The CM has the 300 beat for size and cooling.

No to the 590.

I have the 590, i would not take it over the rc-690.

Yes it has those "vents" on the top and a "vent" on both sides. I was only able to use 1 of those top vents for a fan to suck air down on the heatstink which disables the other vent for another fan. Then theres 2 on door side panel and the heatsink disabled another vent and i have 1 fan in the other, I had to customize the front with another fan, hooked it to the HDD base and moved the base up towards the dvd/cddrives and it sucks air in from the front, leaving all the extra wires under the hdd base.

I would rather take on the rc-690 than having to customize some fitted places.

Here's two good deals on that case....

Ya it is. Infact a 750w Corsair with that refurbished case come out a few bucks more than that combo deal with the 850w.

I got it for $59 and change at the time...must not be running the sale right now. It's generally cheaper than $80...shop around and wait a little bit of you can. The case is worth more than $80 anyway IMO.

This is kind of a cool case for the CM 690 case with some bling with it but I am not going to spend $110 on it. This is more of a FYI.

Thanks for all the help whyMe and foolycooly. I want to do the combo deal but I have already bought my PSU so if I can sell it without a loss then I will do that combo deal. I wish I would have known that I would have needed a new case when I started assembling. I thought the case I got for free would have been good enough but a lot of people have warned me that it may not get the cooling that I need.

No one seems to mention any of the other cases besides the Antec 300 so they must not be too good.

Here is a new case that started out at $124 is now $95 and has a $50 discount, so the final price is $45. I am doing this i7 build with the Asus P6T6 WS Revolution MOBO.

This seems like a really good deal but I was reading some of the reviews and they talk about making sure you have long cords since the case is so big. Does anyone really know about this maker and if this would be needed for my MOBO/processor combo? Also, would you buy this over the CM 690.

Thanks,

Oh wow what a nice find. That is one hell of a case, the 250mm side fan you can switch it to suck in air or pull air out, Good deminsions on it aswell.

Nice find there but, that fan is a really fat fan, many coolers you wont be able to use.

Cons: Due to the large 250mm door fan many tower coolers may not fit. I used a cooler that installs parallel to the motherboard.

That enermax has crap ventilation. Fans are of little use when they are backed up by solid metal.

I was looking at the 690,and 900 also. Which would be better for sli? I like the top part of the 900, you could leave an iphone or ipod on the top. Will a newer version of the 690 or 900 come out? These case seem to have been out for a while.

Thanks
