Hi

For example, 2 or 3 years ago was possible to purchase Xeon X3470 vs 5 euros, cpu that is based in Nehalem, and it's compatible with normal desktop LGA1156 socket motherboards, which can be found very cheap. So it was possible to mount a 4(8) xeon vs 15-20 euros.

Now it's possible to purchase Xeon E5-2650 v4 vs 5 euros, and it is Broadwell, but the problem is that it requires LGA2011-3 motherboards, which are server motherboards and are super expensive.

Does exist more xeon generations like Nehalem xeons? I mean... that can be mounted on desktop cheap motherboards? Which generations that does it exist?

Thanks

There are quite a lot actually;

Sandy Bridge based, LGA1155, full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Sandy_Bridge-based)
Haswell based, LGA1150, full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Haswell-based)
Broadwell based, LGA1150, full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Broadwell-based)
Kaby Lake based, LGA1151, full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Kaby_Lake-based)
Coffee Lake based, LGA1151, full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Coffee_Lake-based)
Comet Lake based, LGA1200, full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Comet_Lake-based)
Rocket Lake based, LGA1200, full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Rocket_Lake-based)

Up to you to find cheap consumer MoBo (LGA1150/ 1151/ 1200) and compatible Xeon to go along with it as well.

Of course, not all Xeon CPUs support consumer socket. E.g Ice Lake based Xeons use LGA4189 socket and that's server socket, so, server MoBo,

From this link, you can open up Xeon CPUs based by architecture and get the individual rundown links, that i linked above,

thank you, unfortunatelly after checking all of these lists, there is not even a single option that cost low and has decent cores... all the cheap ones are 4 cores. Only if you go to coffee lake you can find 6 cores or 8 cores xeons that works on desktop motherboards but they are super expensive, not 5 dollars but near 200 and even more as newer is the processor.

So... this confirms that there is not even a single one xeon with decent amount of cores, cheap price and working on a cheap desktop motherboard (not chinese one)?

Was Xeon X3470 the only one a lot of years ago?

Thanks

X3470 is also 4 core CPU, so.... 🙄

Better check 2nd hand market. CPU prices depend a lot about amount of stock and how good they are in terms of performance.
