I want to buy a new system with an AMD-Athlon processor. I informed myself about the different Chipsets and now I can't decide:
AMD 760
VIA KT266
VIA KT133
With or without DDR-Ram
MSI or Epox

or wait until the new NForce or SIS 735 chipsets will come out, but when will that be?
Please help!!!

I'm in the same boat...here's what I've found (this is all research-based):

Obviously, if you want to wait until fall/winter, there will be new stuff out that will blow away whatever you buy now. IMO, you should just decide when you need to have the computer, and get whatever's best at that point. If you wait, there will be something even better on the horizon then...

Anyway, the AMD 760 chipset seems to be hands down the best. If you don't mind the extra money, that seems to be the one to go for. I'm reading reviews which say that the VIA KT266 doesn't give enough extra performance to be worth the money.

I would get DDR RAM only because you'll be able to use it in the future. If you are trying to be cheap, a KT133A system will apparently do fine with SDRAM.

Hope this helps!
