Which colour printer is BEST for photo printing?

I just bought a cool digital photo camera, the Sony DSC-F707...

I'm am looking for a very good printer for pictures....I was planning to bye an HP1115...is there something better and why?

Speed is not an issue for me...

Is there any site specialised in comparing printers, like
www.dpreview.com for digital cameras?

hey, I guess me and you are in the same boat. It looks like nobody comes into this Forum, I have been asking PhotoSmart Questions for awhile.. From what i understand the P1115 is an awesome printer, that is was i was getting.... I think im just gonna get it...My cousin has it, and the Quality looks good...

Four best photo results I would look in to the epson or the cannon 6 ink tank models...

I have gotten stunning results with epson photo color c80..$150- 50 mail in rebate.

My next printer is going to be cannon s800, I believe its the best photo printer around for under $300.

I'm in the same dilema as you! I have just bought the Sony DSC F707 as well. Very happy with the camera. I currenlty have a HP PhotoSmart P1100 and am torn as to whether I shoud buy the HP PhotoSmart P1318 or an Epson 1280. I've been pretty loyal to HP's printers and have always been happy with them. Just wondering if there's greener grass on the other side?

The HPs can print 2.88 million dots per square inch. The epsons can print 2.08 million dots per square inch. You're losing out on 800,000 million dot per square inch with the Epson’s. If you're only willing to buy HP or Epson.. Go HP.. Lexmark is coming out with a printer May 5th the prints up to 5.76 million dots per square inch with a drop size of 3 peako liters. That means it can print up to 5.76 mega pixel worth of camera.

I just bought an HP 1315. If you have a motherboard with a VIA chipset, I would not recommend using it through a USB connection. I have had a nightmare of a time trying to get this thing working, I finally had to go with a parallel connection, and make sure your parallel port is an ECP printer port.
I have posted here about my problems and also the Via forums. I am not alone with this problem, if you look aroung the Via forums you would see lots of problems with USB and Via chipsets.
Other than that the printer has been great, and Ive been using the starter ink tank that they give you for over a month, so the ink usage is really good.

Your problem is with the VIA chipset and the drivers... there are MAJOR problems with VIA and USB. I upgraded to win XP and all my problems were solved... previously, USB would never work....

anyway, it's not the printer that was the problem...

Believe me, I know the problem lies with Via. I spent way too much time on this issue. Since setting it up to LPT1, I havent had any trouble. There is a solution to the Via USB problem, buy a PCI USB add-on card that does not have a Via Chipset, and then disable the onboard USB ports.
Thats great, but why should I have to spend more of my money just to get features I already have on the mobo.
Via does not seem too interested in answering the many posts regarding the USB problems everyone is facing.
