Hey guys,

I've been searching recently for a new desktop to purchase.
I love gaming and i deal quite a lot with music softwares, (Cuebase & sibelius).
For the music softwares i use USB Audio Capture UA-25. (External Edirol 24 bit).

I found 2 computers within my price range but i can't decide which one would eventually have better performance.
There's just too much unclear information out there regarding the graphic cards that come with these computers.

I'de appreciate if someone could shed some light on my dilemma.

The specs are:

Comp1: XPS™ 430
- Intel® Core™2 Quad Core-processor Q8300 (2,50 GHz, 4 MB cache, 1.333 MHz FSB)
- Legitieme Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 32 Bit - Engels
- 4.096 MB 1.067 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [4 x 1.024]
- 512 MB ATI® Radeon™ 4850 grafische kaart
- 750 GB (7.200 rpm) Seriële ATA/100 harde schijf met 16 MB DataBurst™-cache

Comp2: Studio XPS
- Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 920 (2,66 GHz, 8 MB cache, 4,8 GT/sec.)
- Legitieme Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 64 Bit - Engels
- 4.096 MB 1.067 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 (4 x 1.024)
- 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce™ GT220 graphics card
- 640 GB Seriële ATA-harde schijf (7.200 rpm)

Both offers come from Dell's dutch website.

Thanks in advance,
Kobi.

The I7 is a more powerful processor. I don't know much about the 220 gpu but I would say its mediocre at best. You may have to upgrade the gpu but if it was me to choose between those two systems I would go with the I7.

If you aren't happy with the graphics then you can simply upgrade the video card. Its easy to do.

You should take a shot at building your own system and free yourself from the big conglomerate pc makers clutches.

Its too easy once you understand how to do it...

Thanks for your tip.
I'll probably go for the I7 and change the graphic card later.

I would like to build my own system for somewhat minimal costs, but i have no idea where to start...

Thanks again for your help.
