Question which combo would give me better performance ?

Hi , i got 2 different choices for a budget build , one is :
Mobo : Unknown
CPU : Ryzen 3 3200g
Ram : 16 gb ddr4 That is 3600mhz
Psu : Mag A550BNL
+ 2 Tb Hdd 128 ssd
Price : 210$

And my 2nd option is :
a Z4 G4 Tower
Mobo : Unknown
Cpu : I5 - 9400
Ram : 16 gb ddr4 which is 2666mhz
Psu hp 500Watt gold
+ 250 ssd
Price : 200$



so my question here is if the difference in ram speed would cover the performance lost due to i5-9400 being objectively better than the 3200g ? i've seen in some benchmark the 2666 3600 difference is like 10-20 fps , but the i5 9400 performance with my gtx 1060 3gb is wayy better than 3200g .

9400 would be better.

3400g/3200g perform similarly. Bit below Ryzen 1600 as you can see.

Might come down to which system could take you further in second hand upgrades if were to consider that. Depending on motherboard from each, which you'd have to find out by getting more details before you buy or taking a leap of faith and use cpuz to indentify after purchase.

Upgrade eventually to i7 8700/9900 or Ryzen 3600 or beyond.

Ram speed doesn't matter all that much for Intel, not like Ryzen. In saying that, 3600MHz might be a stretch for 3200g, possibly false advertising.

Both systems has potential for upgrades, if not interested in that then the 9400 system. PSUs in both are sketchy, the Msi isn't good not bad either and HP generally source good power supplies. If you're really budget limited, the price and risk is ok i guess.

The i5 9400 is definitely faster, but the Ryzen build is on the AM4 socket, and it is likely to have a far superior upgrade path depending on the motherboard. As in, you could potentially have that setup for 7+ years before you need to upgrade again with the CPU upgrade path available to it. Can you find out what motherboard comes with that combo? Also, didn't you have a similar thread about this from yesterday?

yes i did but i found a new deal with the i5 9400 , thanks for the replies i think ill go with the i5 9400 build since y'all said ram wouldnt make that much of a difference for intel and no i prolly wont upgrade any soon except if i considered upgrading my 1060 3gb but that should be it thanks !

I would really consider that AMD build over the i5 9400, you just need to find out what model motherboard its using. In the long run it will likely be the better deal since you may actually have a cpu upgrade path for it.

nope sadly the guy didnt want to lower the price so i didnt ask for a picture , how does the i5 9400 build look tho ?

yes , the motherboard is a LG 1151 socket so it can support up to 8th and 9th generation intel cpu's !
