Which components does rendering use?

So until now i thought processors dealt with rendering videos, animations etc. but i have discovered the nvidia quadro k6000 and the amd firepro w9100 wich are the best "workstation GPUs" for "rendering 3d video etc"

so they have to store each frame and uhh animate it and stuff, but usually it's the CPU which takes the biggest hit from rendering, right?

and then you need really high end components like SSDs and MOBOs and this thing they call "RAM"

CPU is far more important in rendering than the GPU. If you are modeling on the other hand and producing the actual video, GPU is more important. RAM should be fast, 8-16GB depending on your work. Hard drive does not matter too much I don't think, just loading speeds, though writing to an SSD would be much faster. You don't want your write speeds to be slower than the rendering.

You need a good CPU (an i7 is best)and at least 16gb of RAM. You don't need an SSD but it does help a lot, and you will also need a HDD because an SSD doesn't have much storage. And you do need a motherboard to run any system. I would say you should get one that you can overclock on and get a CPU cooler, but you don't seem like you are up to that...
For using a GPU in workstations you can use it in some programs, but most don't use it. It would be a good idea to pick up a GPU though so that your CPU isn't having to deal with the graphics along with everything else.
