Planning on building a PC and have so far come up with the following setup:

CPU: Skylake i7-6700K
GPU: MSI GTX 970
PSU: Evga 750 g2 (80plus gold)
Memory: Kingston Hyperx Fury 2x 8gb 2666Mhz CL15
HDD: Samsung 512GB 950 PRO SSD M.2, NVMe + 1 TB WD Blue
Motherboard: Asus z170 Maximus VIII Hero
Case: Fractal Design Define R5

Right now I'm at odds with what kind of an extra cooling system I should invest in that would allow for a relatively high-intensity overclocking on both the CPU and GPU without sacrificing the component(s) lifespan.

My budget on cooling would extend to to around 150$ tops, however, I would prefer to invest in only what is necessary / would potentially be able to cater to the next generation upgrades of cpu & gpu.
I value price to performance & low decibels over aesthetics.

The computer would mainly be used for gaming, streaming and programming.
Any feedback would be welcome and appreciated!

Thank you very much in advance!

It's indeed a good choice , I would anyway recommend you to replace all your case fans with some noctua one's they are really good. You can do for your cpu a push pull setup it's always some nice improvement if you going to overcloock .

I saw some hours ago a video of the i5 6600k vs the I7 6700k overlooking. And to Conclude I saw that overlooking the I7 doesn't being you much performance for gaming , what would really be good is to buy instead an i5 6600k for around 150€ less and you can overclock to around 4.6GHz to be really close to the i7 . With this extra money you can buy the gtx 980 maybe 980ti or some and crap 😀.

Efit : Im not sure of the...
The noctua fans are actually really good quality for its price, than there is the corsair Water cooled h100 that is aswell very good but louder, you can aswell for example buy the corsair cooler and buy some noctua fan for a quiter and more performance cooling. Now I dont know wich of those 2 are the best, I like noctua a lot because its quiet and perform well

this 2 videos could probably awnser your question:

Edit: I am actually going to build a build very similar to yours, I will take the noctua but I wont do heavy overclooking maybe nothing. By the way how do you like your samsung 950 =??? is it as fast as they say ?? the onnly thing on my build that change from yours is the processor i only need an i5

Thanks for the response

I was also looking at the h100i and h110i gtx corsair coolers, but I am still a bit sceptical about the dependability of entry-level cost watercoolers that seem to have somewhat mixed reviews. Air cooling just seems like a safer option in my mind, especially since I dont care about the looks in this case. Also opting for a h110i as far as I know, would only allow it to be placed at the top portion of the R5 case and require for the dampeners to be removed. 2 coolers at the front, 2 at the rear and one for CPU seems like the best option for me so far in regards to having a silent case. Choosing the right ones for this particular case is however the dilemma..

In regards to the new 950 Samsung pci.e m.2 SSD, I still haven't ordered it so cant speak from personal experience. From what I have read though, it looks to be off the charts with up to 4x faster read- and write speed compared to its predecessor 850 SSD Sata III-drive(still more than good enough for most things today). I would say its up to you which better suits your needs/prospects. Future investment was the deciding factor for me : )

Good luck with your build !

Efit : Im not sure of the price but after reading some test the MSI z170 gaming 5 motherboard is a really solid choice, if it's cheaper you should definitely jump on it. For the graphic card you need to consider that the new Nvidia architecture Pascal is about to come and it will be a big jump if you can wait is a good plan
