I found a few threads that looked a little outdated so I wanted to get some more current insight. what would be a good cooler for the haswell E 5820k? I was looking at the Corsair H50 but wanted some more opinions.

What case are you using? What sort of budget did you have in mind? Do you have a preference for aio water cooling over air cooling? Those will help narrow down the choices and make suggestions a bit easier.

For the performance of the h50, the cost is a bit high. It's a lower end aio cooler and gets outperformed by many air coolers. The lower end aio's really aren't all that efficient despite technically being liquid cooling, especially for a six core cpu. If going for an aio I'd look more toward a better performing one with a bit better quality but that easily pushes the cost up closer to the $100+ range.

so I have the fractal design R5 case, and I am going with a gtx 980ti so the room that a air cooler takes up with the ram as well concerns me and aios seem to take up a lot less room. I ran a cooler master v8 on my last tower and it did a great job but it was also very large and I have a full tower at the time. im not worried to much about how much, ill spend money as long as it does the job. I have never done water cooled before so its new to me. 100-150 would be the ideal range

I ended up getting the nzxt x61. I haven't fired up my rig yet but the install was smooth and am impressed with the build quality. Seems very nice
