Which core/distribution switch will fit to a small-medium company?

Hi, I searching for core/distribution switch (any vendor) that fit to a small-medium company (300-400 users) for layer 2. Thanks for any help

How many actual ports? The number of users doesn't really matter. Number of ports, type of ports (copper, fiber) and link speed are the important considerations. Managed with VLANs and ACLs are givens.
