Which CPU cooler is better?

Neither one of those coolers is fanless.

I would just stick with the stock cooler. No reason to spend money on one if you aren't overclocking. If you absolutely need a cooler(broken, didn't come with one, etc.), you can find one for half that price that'll do just fine.

:edit: Like I said, half price for one that'll do just fine: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Freezer-11-LP-Pre-applied/dp/B0037AKXKM/ref=sr_1_105?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1434124023&sr=1-105

I will not OC but my cpu already reaches 60ish when playing games like BF3. It is not far from reaching it's highest temperature. Especially if more graphically intensive games come out, I want to keep safe temps. Is it still not wort it?

60 is well below the highest temp for an i5, you'll be fine

I dont agree. a better cooler can be quieter in operation and prevent thermal throttling under high loads, especially in countries with high ambient temperature.

What's the maximum temperature for that IB Cpu? Something like 105 degrees Celsius? Tom's ran a Cpu intensive benchmark with just the stock cooler for 10 minutes, and the 3570 got up to 70 degrees celsius. Even accounting for a higher ambient temperature, I wouldn't worry about the Cpu getting too hot and throttling down.

I've also never heard the stock fan when it speeds up either. Of course, that's partly because if the Cpu is getting that hot, you can bet that the fans on the video card are spinning up too, and they are the ones you'll hear first.

I'd invest in a better case or better fans for increased airflow before just replacing the Cpu cooler. If you are constantly running hot, you'd just be better off doing what you can to decrease temps inside the case overall first.

You are absolutely right, it could definitely be more quiet... I guess I was just speaking from the point of view of temperature, I've never had a stock cooler that couldn't handle stock speeds :-/ but never had the ambient temp problem either lol. Good points though for sure, and definitely something the OP should consider when deciding.

Investing in a better case or fans would be more expensive and for the price would it be worth it? How much would you expect temps to go down by? For the same sort of price you could just get an after market gpu + cpu cooler.

Well, either your Cpu isn't getting hot enough to worry about and you just want some peace of mind, so you want a better Cpu cooler. Or the Cpu is getting a little too warm which is most likely indicative of an overall air flow/case temperature issue. What case are you using now, and if possible, include a pic of the inside of it.

Thermal throttling happens way before max temp. If you haven't heard the stock cpu fan then you haven't experienced a good quiet pc.

You need to bear in mind that some people do live in hot climates without a/c, so the temps will be much higher than the usual 20'c test ambient temps. Having the CPU kept cooler and having a quieter system is really worth while for the very small cost vs the benefits IMHO.

Sure, as I said some people have much higher ambient temps where it can help a lot.

Its less of an issue with Sandy and Ivybridge cpus, but the 4790k for example throttles using the stock cooler under heavy load - its not dangerous but you do get less performance (and more noise from the stock cooling at max) that you would if you could keep it below the throttling threshold.
