Thinking of building myself a pc for uni for gaming/3D modellling (engineering degree) and general work. Apparently over-clocking is the norm now and is pretty stable. I was just wondering which after market CPU cooler to get. This is my build:

CPU - Intel Core i5 i5-4690K CPU 3.5GHz Socket H3 LGA-1150
CPU Cooler - ???
Motherboard - ASRock Mod 1150 Z97 Extreme6 ATX Motherboard
GPU - Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5
PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2
Case - Corsair Graphite Series 230T ATX Compact Mid Tower

These are the ones I am currently considering, are they compatible with my build? Are there better ones I could get for the money? What thermal paste should I use?

Noctua NH-D14 (top of the list so far)
Scythe SCMG-4000 - Mugen 4
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Thermalright True Spirit 120 M BW Rev.A

All advice greatly appreciated!

Edit - Closed loop liquid coolers were suggested as they're apparently more efficient and put less pressure on the motherboard. Are they better than air coolers and if so which one(s) should I consider?

Solution
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is the standard for a reason. Go with that unless you have a specific need for something else. Thermal paste? Arctic Silver 5 is always a good choice.

The Noctua will fit your case if it is the one with the blue led fan according to PCpartpicker. I recommend the noctua if you are not on a tight budget. It will give you the headroom to overclock a lot if you choose. When it comes to cpu cooling, you do get what you pay for with the Noctua, a little Overkill is what is better than underkill.

The Noctua would be slightly better for sure, but if you're going to spend that type of money, why not go with a water block? If the EVO isn't enough for you, you must be doing some crazy overclocking and you will need to go water.

With a better fan: It's cooling is more fan dependent.

You want the Scythe Glide Stream 1900 rpm Pwm 108+ cfm
Here are it's specs in this American add. Look under specifications tab.

Hi there,

Ive just purchased and installed the AKASA VENOM VOODOO - its really cheap! 35quid and arrived the next day.. installation was an absolute doddle and im now idling my 2500k at 27degrees and under prime 95 stress test im peaking at 62degrees.. compared to my stock cooler with was 37idle and 90+degrees under prime95 - the only downside to the cooler is its massive.. i had the vengeance ram with fancy covers, had to remove them... but now ive got a very stable system..
