Question Which cpu do you recommend...

Hello.

I have a more or less a 4 year old gaming rig.
b450 f gaming
3700x
750 corsair psu
32gb ddr 4 3200
6950xt (I installed it today) replaced a 6700xt

my son and I think the CPU is not a good pair for the 6950.

looking for a better gaming experience and he wants more fps.

Do yall think the 3700x is fine for that GPU?
what do yall think about either a 5700x, 5800x, 5800x3d or maybe the new 5700x3d?

If the system is solely for gaming, then get either of the X3D SKU's. If you migrated over to a B550 chipset board with a dual channel DDR4-3600MHz tight latency ram kit, you would net a little more out of the system.

5800x3d would be best for your system, 5700x would do well as well with less budget

which monitor are you using? which resolution?

update the bios of the motherboard before replacing the CPU

5800X3Ds may be getting harder to get a hold of for a reasonable price, whereas the 5700X3D is quite a bit more affordable and gets you most of the way there.

5700X3D is your best option if gaming is the priority.
It's only a few MHz shy of the 5800X3D, and is readily available ($190 @ Microcenter).

You should also look at your CPU cooling. Maybe an upgrade there to go with the CPU.

Depends on the monitor resolution and the expected FPS. For 4K what you already have is probably fine.

I bought a corsair aio 360. He has a 1440p lg gaming monitor. The pc runs well now. i just think a bump in cpu is a good thing. i appreciate all the feedback.
