Build Advice Which CPU should I buy ?

Hello Community,

Looking ahead to the next chapter in new processors from Intel and AMD Series and future Windows evolution, it's thrilling to consider the cutting-edge processors that will power it. The latest offerings from both manufactures are not just advancements—they're leaps into the future, ready to handle the demands of Windows 12 and beyond.

Still as I want some suggestion while selecting processor for next build. I am a casual gamer. I am exploring AI technologies like Stable Diffusion, Flux, Running LLM on my current Build, which is quite old now.

I am also interested in Digital Art, and I use, Photoshop, Blender, UE 5 and Daz Studio occasionally to provide solutions as a Freelancer to earn some extra bucks.

I also do some video editing in DaVinci or Filmora sometime for my YouTube Channel. (Yes, I also one who think that I can also make money from YouTube!)

Apart from that I use my computer for all other professional works, like Office application, Web development and also in free time watching movies on Streaming Platforms.

My Current Desktop is Quite Old. I am running Ryzen 3600 with 32 GB DDR 4 RAM with Nvidia 4700 Graphics Card.

I am here for some guidance from this community to build my next PC which can be good for next 5 Years (Is It too much! But what can I say, I am not that Rich). What I learned from Internet, in future to Run future AI Applications and Windows 12 TOPS (TOPS—tera operations per second) will play a crucial part for Running Windows 12 and handle AI Applications. Correct me if I am wrong. But I am considering this aspect also. Also, NPU is also crucial now days, I think.

So please guide me. I never built Intel Processor based desktop, except one time when Intel was only and option way back in 2004 with Celeron 2.0 GHZ. After that I purchased 4 AMD Processors, 2 before Ryzen Family and Two from Ryzen Family and Both are Ryzen 5. Yet I am open for going to Intel again if it is better than AMD 9000 series and if it can add value to my daily workflow.

Assuming where you're located, you have readily available stock of processors from either camp(AMD or Intel), I'd ask you to go towards a 9800X3D. It's a great processor for gaming and productivity. I'd avoid Intel for a a couple of generations until they're seen to be going toe to toe with AMD's offerings.

Easier option is AMD because AM5 will likely be supported for a few more years enabling upgrades to the 10000/11000 and maybe even 12000 series whatever name they decide to go for. With intel you’re hoping their performance will improve but their chipsets have a much shorter lifespan.

AI is all GPU based your 4070 would smash any CPU. The 9000 chips aren’t much better than the 7000 chips, the gains are mainly in efficiency. If gaming is more important get a 3D chip, if it’s not get a not 3D chip.

Thanks for the insight. I checked the Pricing between 9000 and 7000 chips, the cost of 9000 chips is not very high compared to 7000 series. Also I am a casual gamer, so I think CPU with X or not X will not matter that much. I narrowed down to AMD Ryzen 7 9800X 3D and AMD Ryzen 7 9700X. I am thinking about AMD Ryzen 7 9800X 3D as its build in AI engine can analyse and tune the system based on your work flow over the time. I am not sure if AMD Ryzen 7 9700X got same feature. As per pricing, AMD Ryzen 7 9700X will definatly bring down my overall budget to atleast 20%.
