Hello everyone,
I'm new to the world of computers and I'm trying to understand how to choose a CPU, looking on the web I read very often that you need to check: cores, ghz and threads so I went to the following site https://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket_AM4.html and looked at the following processors:

ryzen 5 5600x
cores: 6
threads: 12
ghz: 3.7 / 4.6

ryzen 9 3900XT
cores: 12
threads: 24
ghz: 3.8 / 4.7

so I thought that the 3900XT was better but going to benchmark sites they say that the 5600x is better also I saw people asking which was the best and most responded with the 5600x. I looked at the cores threads and ghz and the 3900XT has higher values so I wonder what I should look at in a processor to understand which one is better than another (for gaming)

PS. Im sorry for my bad english!

5600x as better single core performance, higher all core frequency, better IPC performance and more modern instruction set. Also easier to cool and runs cooler.
3900XT has double the number of cores but that counts only for intensive multitasking , most games are well off with 6 cores.
