Very true, most any modern CPU will perform adequately.
When building an HTPC I have to think you should pay much more attention to motherboard and case. Mainly for things like connectivity (BlueTooth, WiFi, plenty of USB ports, etc.). And, of course, compactness: that's got to be a big plus for the 5600G. It's iGPU will be quite powerful enough so no dGPU will be needed even for some light gaming should someone want to. And last: it's power efficiency allows for a very quiet system even in a compact ITX case with small(er) CPU cooler, pretty important for an HTPC.
