Core i3 is better. The comparison could have been fairer if you were looking at i3 vs A10. And that's part of the reason why AMD seems in trouble on portables.. Core i3 systems are already so aggressively priced. I have seen Best Buy specials on Core i3 portables for under $400. Hardly any A10 systems close to that.
In order to help you decide which is the better choice, we need to know more about these systems. Does the i3 laptop have a separate built-in video card, or is it only going to be using its Intel HD 3000 integrated video? If that's the case, the A6's integrated Radeon HD 8400 may give you better overall performance in spite of the CPU itself being slower.
