Intel Celeron 2955U 1.4GHz

or

Processor Intel Celeron N2840 / 2.16 GHz ( 2.58 GHz ) / 1 MB Cache

Is one dramatically better than the other? or is there the tiniest difference?

Not a problem, they aren't going to running StarWars: Battlefront, but for email, web browsing, Office etc, the N2840 will be fine. It only supports 8GB but with that processor you probably won't be doing anything that could ever ask for 16GB. =)

Thanks, but I'm not too smart with this stuff. Can you possibly explain what all that means, difference wise?

They're both lower end intel. The N2840 is newer (by one full year.) Both Dual core. The N2840 has a higher clock rate and will still use less power. The 2955 has a max memory size advantage though (16GB) to the 2840's 8GB. Both use Intel HD graphics...the 2955 supports 3 display monitors and the N2840 will only support 2. Both Support virtualization.

Do you need help choosing one over the other?

The N2840 has a faster clock, lower energy usage and more L2 cache. The 2955U supports 16 gigs of RAM vs the 8 the other supports. Overall performance, the 2955U seems to edge it out in the benchmarks. If you were looking at a laptop/computer for home use I would go with the N2840 as it's a faster clock and more cache.

You can look over the quick comparison I pulled up here if you need to see where the numbers came from.: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Celeron-N2840-vs-Intel-Celeron-2955U

Yes, please. And yes, they're low end CPU's as I'm looking in getting a Chromebook.

Thank you very much.
