Which CPU/mobo for my budget gaming pc with GTX660

Hi,

So I recently noticed that my AMD Phenom 9950 X4 @2.6 was bottlenecking my GTX660, so I am upgrading my cpu/mobo.

The amount I am spending will be around 170$ for the CPU+mobo(+RAM).

I was thinking of a Phenom II X4 965 BE as CPU but I'm not sure if that's the best I can get.. I saw in the Far Cry 3 CPU benchmarks that the FX4xxx had much more FPS than the Phenom X4 965. But that was paired with the HD7970.

So what CPU & mobo+RAM do u suggest?

Doesn't have to be AMD, but I think intel is way too overpriced for my budget now?

intel is better and will be better for the long run if you get a 1155 socket cpu+mobo because you will be able to upgrade in the future to an i5 or i7 wich is alot better than amd.

Okay thanks, I will be ordering a 4-to-8-pin adapter if I need one. And could someone explain why the Phenom 965 will be better than an FX4xx?

Hmm so it would be a better idea to get one of those FX? (for gaming)
