Question Which CPU & Motherboard would be best?

Hi - I’d like some advice and help please..

I recently upgraded my GPU to a RTX 3070 and I’m now looking @ upgrading my CPU and MB, with one that will pair well with my new GPU..

Currently my CPU is a i5 9400f and a very old motherboard.

I’m a bit of a novice to pc gaming as a whole and am looking forward to building my new and first build, so would appreciate any suggestions for a new CPU and motherboard combo that will pair well with my GPU. Intel is probably my preference, but I’m open to AMD as well..

I don’t want to spend too much and my absolute max would be about £700 for both the CPU and MB together.

Oh and my preferred resolution is 1440p / 4K.

Personally I'd wait for early January when Intel releases the locked cpu's such as the i5 13400 / 13400F along with the B760 boards. A lot of those boards will support DDR5 which is going down in price on an almost weekly bases.

Right now, especially at 1440 and above, I still like the value proposition of AM4. There is such a premium on the next gen Intel and AMD, it does not make sense to me.
