So i havnt personally overclocked my CPU. i tried the Gigabyte easytune and set my cpu to 4.2mhz which is Medium in gigabytes interface.

Thing is when i check in BIOS my cpu still reads 35 multiplier and 3.500 ghz. But Cpu-z and Gigabytes system information shows that i am actually running at 4.2Ghz

Gigabyte also shows that i've got 44 multiplier and so does Cpu-z

so what should i take from this ? Is my pc not overclocked till my computer starts up and gigabyte is open or is my bios displaying wrong info ?
Edit: heres a picture, apparently Gigabyte spells multiplier wrong and has gone with a MULTIPILIER 😛

Yes since you are using software to get your OC the OC wont be active until that software is active. most people OC via the BIOS, not software.
Thanks man, so are there any bad things about software overclocking contra BIOS overclocking. Reason i havnt overclocked in bios is i dont feel safe about it yet. But if this works then i dont mind much tbh.

Most software programs i have used/read about, put the voltage higher than necessary and go conservative on the clocks. I was in the same boat as you at one point, but BIOS OCing is a lot less intimidating than it looks. just watch some youtube videos and do a bit of reading and you should be fine.

P.S. watch your temps
