Im wondering which processor I should choose for Moderate gaming and occasional editing?

The i5-4440 is a better option since it uses the latest Haswell architecture. It has faster single-core performance and the latest motherboards fully support USB 3.0, SATA III, and PCI-E 3.0. If using the PC for heavy video rendering, though, get an i7-4770 or better.

Well let me put it like this, the i7 920 is a socket 1366 processor, and the other, I believe is a socket 1155, so they are not interchangable on the same motherboard. It depends on the mpotherboard to are using.

LGA1366 motherboards are hard to come by these days and LGA1150 motherboards give you more for your money. So definitely get an LGA1150 motherboard and the i5-4440 since that would be a much more efficient option.

If you are running multiple GPUs, sound cards, TV tuners, etc. that fill up your PCI-E slots, then an LGA2011 motherboard and an i7-4820k is a better option since it supports 40 PCI-E lanes as the i7-920 did. But beware that the X79 motherboards are more expensive.
