A Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 or a Intel Core 2 Quad xxxxx

I need it for gaming,r Office 2007 and HD Videos. (I don't play WOW, Halo, Diablo series, or Half Life. None of the shooting games except for GTA series) I Would like to play Flight Simulator X, MMORPGs, Empire Earth III, Age OF Empires III, and other older games.

The HD Video's Love QUAD COREs

Hey, please don't help him until he apologizes and promises to play Diablo :)

Just kidding. Yes, get the quad. Flight Simulator is very CPU-limited and I hear it got a recent patch to support up to 32 cores.

I'm confused now :??:

Do you want cutting edge or old tried and tested, E6850 is brand new and Q6600 is nigh on ten months old the newer has a 1333 FSB the older a 1066 FSB @ standard clocks the dual core may run cooler than the quad core (I'm not 100% on that as mine has yet to arrive) but as they can both be got for around the same price it may depend on whether you might wish to upgrade to one of the new 45nm quad or dual cores when they are released and if you do then the E6850 may be the easiest to sell on to someone else.

He never said ENCODE HD, maybe he meant watch....but why not if its just as fast, not a bad price either, I think I am gonna wait for Penryn goodness, then do it up.

Don't know mate, only Intel can say with any kind of certainty at this point in time. But think how happy you will be if it costs less than you paid for your year old Q6600.

Maybe too lame a question for you guys, but without hesitation I wanna ask you whether to buy a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 processor in order to balance out the technical performance that's being rendered by my new GPU MSI NX 7600GT 256MB or should I go for 2.0x2 GHz core 2 duo processor.
My question is that, GPU's and CPU's performance should go hand-in-hand right? So from that point of view what should I decide for...?? For your kind info, I have already bought this 3.2 ghz cpu @ Nepalese Rupees 5,450.00 (i.e. USD 83.98 as of today's exchange rate of NPR 64.90 for USD 1.00) now I have to add NPR 5,100.00 more to get this CORE 2 DUO (that comes up to total of USD 83.98 + USD 78.58)!!! Now is THAT worth it TOO'.??
I basically use my computer for DVD movies, games like C&C2, HL2, Doom3, FIFA07, UEFA05-06, COD2, and eagerly awaiting from my fav game creator crytek CRYSIS...!!

My Spec:

CPU : Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 3.2GHz, Copper Heatsink cooling
Motherboard : D946GZIS Intel Motherboard
Graphics card : MSI NX7600GT TD256E at Stock speed
Sound Card : Integrated Sigmatel Sound Card
RAM : 2 x 1GB Kingston PC5300 at 667MHz, 5-5-5-15
Hard Drive(s) : 80GB & 250GB Seagates Barracuda HDDs
CD/DVD Drive(s) : Liteon Combo / Liteon DVDRW
Power Supply : Liteon 420W PSU
Operating System : Windows XP Pro SP2

Im expecting the cheaper models will come in at the price that the Q6700 currently files, with loads of dual core ones coming uot I doubt they would want the quad core being too cheap.

When the E6600 first came out I could not have got one for less than £240ish or so and then they release the E6850 and I can get one for less than £170 so I don't want to jump to the conclusion that the 45nm's are going to cost the earth.

here is an old review from last year with the pricing, just in case memories need a refresh.

P.S Don't forget they could just phase out the Q6600.

i would go quad all main stream programs really from now will soon support multiple command line to utilize quad cors, hoever for single aplications and non multicore games than the duo will be (in theor) faster
