I'm looking to upgrade my cpu from a g4560 because Black ops 4 tears through it and I stutter so much on that game. Sony Vegas pro is also not working great with this cpu, whenever I add effects it can't handle it and just skips frames alog. My price range is to around an i3 8350K. Can I please get any advice like how much of a differnce it'll make or if its worth saving up more to get an i5. I forgot to mention my motherboard is a ASRock B250M Pro. Cheers.

Solution
I'd sell your G4560 & motherboard and if possible grab the 8100 (or more preferably the 8400) & a H310/B360 motherboard as your current motherboard doesn't support the 8/9th gen CPU's.
I would look for an i7. The extra threads will make a big impact on Vegas Pro. Also, look for a 6th or 7th gen CPU as they will work with your motherboard. So if you went with the 8350k, you would need a new board too.

I would look for a good deal on a used 6700/7700. Both CPUs will work well with your board and they are very capable CPUs that will be good for awhile to come.

If you want a new platform, then go with the 8400 over the 8350k as the extra cores will make a big difference. But I would go with AMD over Intel at this point. While they lag slightly behind Intel in gaming performance, they are much cheaper and better at workstation task. The Ryzen 2600 is a great CPU that can be had for pretty cheap and it will run Vegas Pro like you cant believe.

I totally agree with feelinfroggy777. I can't believe how much cpu resources that game uses on my Ryzen 7 1700. I'm looking at 60-80% on all 16 threads.
However this game is optimized for a whole spectrum of different combinations of hardware. If you take his advice and just upgrade your chip to the 7700, it will be the most cost effective. Can you list your hardware specs please?

I would love to get a 6700 or 770 but in New Zealand it's kind of hard to find them and when you do they're pretty damn expensive. I'm thinking about an i5 7500. All I really want to do is play the game without stuttering with moderate graphics. Do you think this will do the job?
