Which cpu to get???

Hello people!

im upgrading my system to either a i5 4670K (overclock) or i7 4770.
With the i5 i will get the noctua cpu cooler but both will be accompanied by an ASRock H87-PERFORMANCE

which one shall i get or any suggestions?

If you just game, then the i5, if you do other tasks such as rendering. Then by all means, get the i7.

It will be best if you state what you plan to do then we can suggest on what to get.

I do the occasional 3d render with Blender, but i mostly game. I play games like Need for speed mw2, battle field 3 and other moba games.

Well if you get an Nvidia GPU, then you can render in blender with the GPU which is MUCH faster than CPU. I don't believe ATI cards are supported by blender yet? In that case an i5 4670k is what you need. Any other rendering work that you do is occasional as you have said and its worth pouring rest of funds into a better graphics card to improve game play.

well i have a gtx 650 ti and a pentium g620 and the cpu is bottle necking :/ ty for ur asnwer

If you are fully prepared to get either than maybe the i7 would be a better option for you. While you won't see much, if any, performance increase in gaming applications by using the i7, hyper-threading sure is incredibly helpful even if it is for odd tasks.

I personally would go for the i5 simply because I cannot have a CPU that doesn't overclock. Since you're planning on overclocking the 4670K it would be a much much better gaming CPU than the i7. So you have to weigh up your tasks. Do you really render enough to warrant an i7, bearing in mind that the i5 still handles rendering perfectly fine, or do you really want to focus on having the best gaming experience

I dont render that much tbh :/ id rather go for the gaming performance, but i havent overclocked before and will be fun learning! thanks

Lean how to overclock on another page as there are plenty, with that in mind, the i5 4670k is what we suggest you get.
