Question Which Dimm Slot for Ram

HI,
I have a single stick of Corsair Vengence 16gb ram and a Gigabyte z370 hd3p mobo. which ram slot should it be placed in or does it even matter?? ive looked on the manual but didnt find the answer.

Thanks for reply. Thats where it is now but PcBenchmark shows it as under performing and was hoping id just got it in wrong slot. oh well...

The DIMMs should be populated starting at the end of the memory bus on each memory channel (i.e. DDR4_1 or DDR4_2 on the GIGABYTE Z370 HD3P).

Your memory is under-performing because it is operating in single channel mode. You should be buying memory in pairs so that dual channel mode can be used.

unfortunatly I didnt have a choice of Ram otherwise i wouldnt have got a single stick.
so, using a single stick it should be in DDR4_1 slot then??

DDR4_1 or DDR4_2. It doesn't matter which one of these two you use when you only have a single DIMM.

Thanks ko888, retested in DDR4_1 slot and now performing as expected.
