Which do you prefer? on screen keys(home,back and recent apps keys) or off screen keys?

im was planning to buy the asus zenfone 5 or the sony xperia z3 compact but they have differ in keys (you know the home, back and recent apps keys...)

SO which do you prefer?

*i know you will prefer the z3 compact but the main question is "Which do you prefer? on screen keys or off screen keys?

I would Prefer Off screen toggles, On screen toggles covers a little bit of your screen which we dont like so it is good to have capacitive keys or Hard keys.

On screen keys will vanish when you consume media or enter similar full screen modes so if that's your excuse for off-screen keys try harder... They can have updated visuals, functions, rearrange (from Gingerbread to ICS and now Lollipop there's quite a difference) and even be configurable (at least LG software let you do that). It also means one less component on the device at risk of fail.
I prefer on screen keys.

if you are considering any phone from the Zenphone series, let me tell you the buttons dont have lights.
Its hard to press them in dark.

I have LG G2 and it has on screen buttons. Having it i prefer on screen buttons. they cover the screen only on home screens and in a few apps, not in movies and many games.
biggest advantage of having on screen buttons is you can customize them.
my button combination is back, home, options and toggle notification bar
