Which drivers should I download?

Hi again guys,

I just got my pc up and running and installed windows 7 and the cd drivers no problem. Now I'm stuck on updating the drivers from the Asus website. I need to know exactly which drivers to install. I've heard you just have to download the latest and greatest but it doesn't seem that simple to me...

For example, the last 2 chipset drivers for my P8Z77-V seem to be exactly the same, and the 3rd one down includes "intel chipset software installation utility" which sounds useful. Should I download this first, then the others?

Also, how do I install the drivers?

Thanks,

P

Well what I did was load the LAN driver from my disk, hop on the AMD website and get the latest drivers, then go over to the ASRock website and just pick out the drivers by what seemed more important to me. And what does that Asus website look like? The Asrock website just basically lists the 2 latest drivers for said motherboard.

Thanks mate, and yes it is 64 bit. Should I download and install those in the order you've listed? Or install the "intel chipset driver V9" first, then the "management engine interface"? And is it a problem if it's already installed before the "intel chipset driver"?

Also, how exactly do I install these drivers once there downloaded? I need a step by step guide. How to use winzip etc.

Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know how exactly to install these drivers? Asus has a download manager you can use but I've googled the program and it seems a bit iffy...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

install the chipset first. don't use the download manager. just use the global link for each one. don't download winzip. if you want you can download 7zip. its free and better then winzip. windows can extract zip files so you don't need a 3rd party program. save the files to your desktop then double click on the zip file it should pop up dialog click extract. in the new folder run the setup exe. after the setup finishes you can delete the zip file and the new folder it made.

Thanks Jon, i've been using the free trial of winzip because I didn't know it was unnecessary. Here's what I've done so far..

Last night I saved te file "Management engine interface V8.1.0.1263" to my desktop, I double clicked to find all that was in it, (BIN, INX, ISS files and languages. Is this what I should be seeing??)

There was a lot of files that said setup but only 2 of these were applications ("Asus setup" and "Setup"), another 2 were listed as application extensions.

I clicked on the application listed as "Asus setup" ( I figured this was right as it had the install icon, you know the little pc with the box and cd? ) and it began it install.

Is that the driver installed? Did I do that right? Will installing this driver overwrite the old one? And is installing this driver before the chipset going to cause problems?

Please let me know if you understand what I'm talking about, because I don't :D

Thanks mate.

don't buy winzip just download 7zip. don't worry about it if you installed the Management engine first. you don't even really need it. it looks like AsusSetup.exe just launches Setup.exe so im guessing you could probably run either. id run the AsusSetup just to be on the safe side. as long as the installation windows came up and you clicked next and finished the install you should be fine. after you finish installing the other drivers check device manager to make sure there are no yellow exclamation marks.

You're such a legend! I'll finish the rest of the drivers in the morning. Does this overwrite the old drivers, so the old & new wont clash? Also, do you mind if I PM you in case I run into more trouble?

Thanks for your time mate
