Which external drive should I pick for mounting Linux?

I'm planning on buying an external hdd or ssd so I can mount Linux Fedora on it and use it for development. I have Windows on internal hdd so I will not store any pictures, videos, any multimedia at all on that external drive, only OS and neccessary IDEs and editors.

Should I buy 60/120 gb ssd? Will 60 or 120 gb be enough? Or should I just get a fast hdd (bigger ssds are too expensive for me). I'd prefer ssd if you think 60/120 gb should be enough. Thank you.

It doesn't have to be an external, you could just put it in your PC.
You could also just make a small partition on your existing drive for the Linux distro.

But a 60GB should be more than enough.
