I see a lot of discussion in here on geforce2 vs. others, but no recommendations (at least none I've noticed) for an actual brand. So I was wondering which brand I should get; asus? etc.?

Will be pairing the card with an Athlon 1.333, 256mb or 512mb ddr crucial, hopefully an asus a7m266, either an ibm desktar 61g or the maxtor diamondmax plus 60gb, an ati tv wonder card, sansung 900 nf, win 2k, altec lansing ac556 powerplay 5pc. system, pioneer 16x dvd, atx 9301k 300w fulltower (any suggestions for the other components are also appreciated).

thanks.

Buy the cheapest one you can find ($131), heatsinks ($12), arctic silver ($8), and a tube of superglue ($1). You can grab a couple of 80mm fans and put them on the side panel too. Start overclocking.......

Basically, no. There's no difference between GTS cards if you're not overclocking.

Overclocking the GTS is a registry entry, some arctic silver and about 8 heatsinks away.

Well i would go for a ATi radeon 64mb DDR. Remember the Geforce2 GTS texture compression doesn't work right. Radeon works very well with a Athlon system. Also you get DVD decoder.

Also consider in 3dMark2001, a future DX8 game benchmark the Radeon smokes the GF2s and GF2pros. In Serious Sam the Radeon is a breath away from the GF2 pros without overclocking. Radeons also overclock very easily and with great results.
