Which GeForce? Need advice...

Well, I've finally decided that it's time to upgrade my old ATI Rage 128 Card to a GeForce2, but I don't have a hell of a lot of money to spend on it (looking for something in $100-$150 range). The way I see it, that means I can either get an MX now, or wait for the NV20 to hit, and hope it drives the price down on the GTS. Last I heard the NV20 was due out in March. What do you folks think? Is it worth waiting, and will the price of the GTS drop enough?

Either get the MX, or wait until march and get a GTS. The MX should last you over a year, the GTS will last 2 or more years (playing games at good frames).

OK, thanks...just one more question. On my local computer store's website I see them advertising a "Creative Annihilator2 MX 32MB DDR", and apparantly it's using DDR SGRAM, not SDRAM. I was under the impression that one of things that made the MX cheaper was that it used SDR SDRAM, not DDR. How is SGRAM different from SDRAM...would it be better to get an MX with SDR SDRAM or the one with DDR SGRAM?

Creative is the only company that makes the MX with DDR. Yes it does have DDR. It's more money of course. It's probably worth it going for DDR since it has a decent boost in performance.

They don't have any compitition in the sound card market - are you kidding? They've sold way more SB LIVE!s than the Turtle Beach or Philips have sold of their cards.

Who cares about them in the future? They're product is here NOW,.

OK, I've got one more question, and figured I'd add it to this thread instead of starting another one. I went out today and bought the Anahilator2 MX (had to go to three stores to find it...apparantly creative is stopping making it with DDR memory, not cost effective). When I opened the box, much to my surprise there was no fan or even a heatsink on the GeForce2 chip. Even my old Rage128 has a heatsink, and I know that GeForces draw a lot of power and make a lot of heat. The strange thing is, the manual mentions nothing about attaching any sort of cooling to it. If I were to plug this thing in right now without a proper cooling fan, would it die in a puff of smoke?

If it's not to late I have a NVIDIA GeForse2 GTS 32MB DDR.
For 150 dollars if you want it.
