Hey all! I don't know much about GPUs, but I do know that I'm on the fence for using a EVGA XC Gaming GeForce RTX 2070 Dual-Fan 8GB or ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080ti for 1080p gaming.

I viewed some videos and benchmark reviews on the RTX 2070 and 1080ti on 1080p gaming and saw that the 1080ti produced for FPS than the RTX 2070.

What do any of you think? Should I get EVGA XC Gaming GeForce RTX 2070 Dual-Fan 8GB or ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080ti? Or... should I get a different GPU?

Thanks!

One video I saw comparing the RTX 2070 and GTX 1080ti:

Hello,

I think you can get 2080 for the price of 1080 Ti. 1080 Ti may be slightly better in some test and same goes for the other one, but I would mainly go for 2080 or 2080 Ti because they are new and 1080 Ti is few years old now. Also depends on your CPU, if it can handle those cards.

But I'm not an expert, just what I would buy. :)

I would go with the 1080 TI only because it has more vram. Card is meant to be pushed to a higher resolution, and the 11GB would help out then if you got a monitor with a higher resolution.

Just my 2 cents.

I really don't want to probe much, but, why those cards? Is there a budget? What exactly are your needs for PC gaming.

I do have a budget, in fact. A GPU under about $1000. The reason why I chose those cards is because I searched YouTube for "gpu for 1080p gaming" and found both RTX 2070 and GTX 1080ti. Also, I found the EVGA XC Gaming GeForce RTX 2070 for about $550 at a Microcenter where I live. My needs for PC gaming is good graphics and FPS above 60. But, mostly high FPS.

P. S. I do not intend to O.C. with both of these cards.

If it is of any need, my CPU is the Intel Core i5-9600K.

Hm have you looked on the youtubes for refresh rates and response times videos? Only reason I say that is maybe you might want to invest in a slightly more pricey monitor and balance what you can get within your budget for a gpu and monitor.

No, I have not. But thanks for the advice!

Edit: If I were to stay with my monitor and 1080p, what GPU would you recommend?

If youre going high framerates 1080p with i5 youre probably good with better version of RTX 2060 like aorus or gaming z. since i think your cpu will become a bottleneck at high fps with 2070/2080. If you want to be safe with VRAM go with 2070.
