I am planning on building my first desktop pc.

This is what i had in mind so far:

Motherboard:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Pro3/?cat=Specifications

CPU:
http://ark.intel.com/products/65520/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz

GPU:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009O1UOTS/?tag=pcp0f-21
or
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009O1UOTS/?tag=pcp0f-21
which one is better, i am edging towards the AMD as it has Crossfire support.

RAM:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Vengeance-Performance-Memory-Module/dp/B008E3M4TU/ref=pd_sim_sbs_computers_2

What are your thoughts on which one is better?

And does the CPU and Motherboard seem ok?

Hi. I see that you've been asking for ideas in the Systems forum. Since this build is for gaming, I recommend going with djangoringo's build with the i5-3470 and HD 7870 Tahiti LE. If you're going to go with the i5-3570K and Z77, then you won't have enough money for a good graphics card which is much more important for gaming. The GTX 650 Ti is better than the HD 7770 but you don't need the 2GB version of either card. So unless your monitor resolution is very low, the HD 7870 Tahiti LE is much better than these cards and a few other cards in between (and comes with 2 free games). Here's another one: http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/VTX3D+Black+Edition+Radeon+HD+7870+%28Tahiti+LE%29+OC+2048MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+%2B+2+FREE+GAMES!+?productId=53474
Here's a benchmark result comparing the cards:
