Well yea My price range for GPU is like 100$ - 200$ and I come up with these choices:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130758

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150521

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150549 (Unless Really Necesarry)

This is my first build and I just want to play games like BF3, Starcraft, MW3, MW2 etc (No WOW)

On like high settings.

For BF3 I hope to play on Ultra 1080 p.

I will consider crossfire/SLI the GTX 560 or the 6870. I may consider getting the GTX 680 cards in the summer but for my first build I just wish to get a medium range card please suggest thank you.

I would go for a Gtx 560 or 560 ti over a HD6870, however I WOULD NOT go for the gtx 560 ti 448 cores edition or the hd 6950 as the cost $269 and for $249 you can have the new AMD Radeon Hd 7850, and it beats all of the cards that you listed, and it even beats a gtx570, and matches the gtx580 in certain benchmarks, so it is a lot better then the ones you have currently chosen.

Here is a link to a hd 7850 (what I would recommend at the moment, however if you wait a bit the cards after teh gtx680 will come out soon):

That card costs $259, which is $10 more than the normal model, but its from sapphire (they make good cards), and it has a dual fan cooler.

So i would go for the Hd7850 for $249-259, or I would wait for Nvidia cardsa after the Gtx680, like the Gtx 660 or 670. I would not go for the cards that you chose, as they are less powerful than the hd7850.

If you chose to buy a hd6870 or a gtx560 and SLI/Crossfire it later you could encounter annoyances like microstuttering which still occurs in SLI/crossfire configurations, even though it is less common. There are other disadvantages of running a SLI/CF setup, so it is better if you get a single card but a better one, like the hd7850 that I recommended, as it costs the same as some of the cards you chose.

Hope this helps!

The 560 performs a bit better in most games than the 6870. However, if you could snag a 6870 cheaper (>$20 less) than a 560 then go that route. Either one is a great choice for a mid-range card.

fil1p: I think you failed to see that the OP stated they had a $100 - $200 budget. The 7850 is out of that range.

Hey,

The Gtx660 and 670 are supposably gonna be out in May, and I myself am waiting for them, but if you want a card now, I would go for the hd7850, or if that is too high I would go for the gtx 560. Wait a bit for it to be in stock, or go get a HIS Radeon hd7850, it is $20 less ($239), and is in stock at newegg.

@maui67 I did not fail to see that his budget is $200, the links he posted show two of cards at $260, and both of them do not perform as well as the hd7850, which is why I pointed out that card, as it is newer and better.

I have a asus 560TI and i love it. I lucked out and got it for 200 about 6 months ago, i caught a deal from someone doing an unboxing video and that was it. its runs everything great plus its pre o.c. and nvidias control panel makes pushing it further even easier. I may be biased though since im an intel/nvidia fan lol. Check auction sites though. sometime you can catch a good deal. just ensure you match all the details to a reliable site so the seller doesnt jerk you around

Thanks btw why not the gtx 560 ti 448 core? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs3_5zv_P0E this video shows it getting 80 fps in 1080 p ultra battlefield. Is that realistic?!

In general, the lineup on the 7850 are more quality made as a whole. Common choices in amd gpus are Xfx and Sapphire in general. But buying specific cards that are similar to each other, best idea is to check price and warranty on them.

edit: and i think gigabyte as well

The card model has nothring to do with microstuttering. Micro stuttering happens with ALL 2 card configurations, regardless of the cards used. If the framerate is well above 60, you'll notice it less, but as the framerate falls, microstuttering becomes more apparent.

With 3/4 card sli/xfire configurations, microstuttering is eliminated completely.

This is why I avoid recommending 2 pci-e slot motherboards at all. stick with 1 card, or plan on 3+ cards.

As said several times, I would recommend getting a 7850. Personally, I would choose XFX, but it's up to you.

Funny. I have never heard ANY complaints of microstuttering in a 570 (or higher) 2-Way SLI, regardless of whether the framerate is dipping below 60 or not. Now if your framerate is dipping under 60 and V-SYNC is dropping it down to 30, that's not microstuttering; that's stuttering. V-SYNC should be disabled if you find this happening often. Obviously, this also goes for ATI cards.

Well microstuttering affects some cards more, and more powerful cards in SLI usually are not so prone to microstuttering. And yes their have been some problems with hd6870's in CF, however some people added an extra card to smooth things out, meaning three cards in crossfire. However it is just not worth the trouble to go for SLI or CF unless you are buying high end cards. Crossfire has had driver issues, game support problems, microstutter, and things like noise levels and temperatures with go up too. SLI is more or less the same, maybe better in some cases, but both SLI and CF share some of their problems.
