I'm debating on buying a amd 7990 or a amd r9 290x. Which one is better to go with? I live stream and play battlefield 4 blops 3. I also render 1080p60 videos for youtube. I want to max out future titles. Thanks

If he is going to spring for a 970 then I have been hearing good things about the R9 390. But, this is where a bit of research comes in for you personal use of the card. What games will you play and how do they perform on each of the cards at certain resolutions, how many monitors you want etc.

Performance in DX11 games is about the same with R9 390 and GTX 970.

The former has more VRAM but use more electricity.

Maybe R9 390 will do better with asynchronous computing but on the other hand I guess the GTX 970 may be over-clockable?

I have a 750 PSU

Can you tell us the model of your PSU?
750W should suffice , but we need to make sure.

Soon 15 years ago I bought a Chieftec Dragon with 360 watt PSU.

I used that for about 10 years. (stopped using it like 1 year ago.)

I wonder what people would had thought about that one.

Man , you're not the only one here....... I had an ACBel 300W PSU for 9 years on an old PC.
But that does not change the fact that it's a bad PSU. It was loaded with a little bit more than 100W so, that's not a big deal.
Try loading your "Chieftec Dragon" with 65-70% (~230-250 W) power and you'll get some nice fireworks.

The Corsair CX 750W is a tier 4 PSU, check this out : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html - it's not a bad unit, but not a good one either for the value and quality.
