Hello everyone!

My friend Lucas is making is build, but he needs some help.

What GPU should he buy?

RX 550 4GB
RX 560 2GB

They are sold at the same price here, and he cant go over-budget for an GTX 1050, the prices are pretty bad here in Romania.

He will use an Ryzen 3 1200.

Thanks in advance!

If he is going to buy a Ryzen 5 2400G instead of the Ryzen 3 1200. He won't need a GPU for a while because the 2400G comes with Vega 11 iGPU which is equivalent to a RX 550 or GT 1030. That will provide him the opportunity to save $ until he can afford a better GPU like RX 580 8gb or GTX 1060 6GB.

Otherwise my answer would be RX 560

No, he wont buy an APU, because high frequecy RAM is expensive as hell here.
3000Mhz RAM is almost 70$ more.

And he doesnt have the budget to get an 1050, let alone an RX 580.

But the main question still hasnt been answered.

What GPU should he buy?

RX 550 4GB or RX 560 2GB ?

I'd go with the RX 560. The 560 being a fair deal stronger, but the available vram is - were just talking 2 to 4 here, but still...
It'd also depend on the settings he's looking to play at. Higher graphics settings require more vram, and that 2gb just sucks.
So 1080p at low-medium(maybe) settings, and low for 550.

You should go for the RX560. 2GB VRAM sucks but, you wont be able to play past low settings for 1080p games with the RX 550, maybe some games with the 560 (in medium).

1080p medium would mostly use up 2gb vram and wont ask for more.
RX 560 will give you much better fps than 550 here for the same game.

What I meant by Image quality is higher setting for textures.

True. Both are weak cards and won't be able to tap the extra 2GB VRAM except in rare cases.
