Here I go again, doing three separate posts when I could have just done one with multiple quotes, oh well.

Plus the two 480's in there will be really not so nice with heat. I would back off any OC you do if you SLI a 480.

Another thing: when and if you buy a new motherboard to SLI, make sure that it says its compatible. Otherwise, even if you have 50 PCIe x16 slots you will not be able to SLI two of em.

Nvidia cards have to be matched model for model, so you would need another 480 to make it work, however if your other PCI express slot is only a 4x it will really limit the performance gains from SLIing cards.

My 460 has fits when overclocked past 845 Mhz. Voltage tweaks don't change anything so I have it backed down to 825 Mhz.

We nerds are passionate about what we do ;), and so things can get a little heated.

You should be able to get solid 580 performance, and a little beyond if you want to push it. Remember though: when you overclock the GPU gets much hotter, especially the 480.

And if you upgrade your motherboard, just as a heads up, you will have to re-install Windows. There is no way around it.

PCI-E 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 are all backwards compatible. The only thing that won't make a card not fit is the size (x4, x8, x16) newer cards use x16 size. Most new motherboards have a PCI-E slot x16.
