Hi,

I am looking for a graphics card capable of playing games like assassins creed revelations on my pc. I won't be using it for 3D only 2D.

Since I live in South Africa graphics card cost almost twice as much as they do overseas, so I have little to choose from:

- Axle 3D NVIDIA GT240 1GB GDDR3

- Axle 3D ATI Radeon HD5670 1GB GDDR5

- Biostar ATI RADEON HD5570 1GB DDR3 PCI EXPRESS

- Axle 3D NVIDIA GT240 1GB GDDR3

- TWINTECH GEFORCE GT440 1GB DDR5

- Twintech NVIDIA® GeForce™ 9800GT 512MB DDR3

- Twintech™ NVIDIA® GeForce™ 9800GT 1GB DDR3

- Axle 3D NVIDIA 9800GT 1GB GDDR3

Feel free If you want to help me to go and look at www.vtechnologies.co.za for the more suggestions, my maximum price is R950 which is about 95 uero.

Thank you you're awesome for helping a south african with computer troubles

These are from COD: MW2 but should give you a good idea. your FPS will be higher at that resolution

Of those the ATI Radeon HD5670 is the best. Depending on the resolution of your monitor, you may have to lower some settings in the games for best results. Most games will also set themselves for best performance.

Ok so I looked up the 9800gt but now i have one more question: which one?

- Twintech NVIDIA® GeForce™ 9800GT 512MB DDR3
or
- Twintech™ NVIDIA® GeForce™ 9800GT 1GB DDR3.

because in my country the 1gb is 20 euros more.

And i noticed it only has ddr3 where as the 5670 has ddr, but the 5670 is another 17 euros more than the 9800 1gb

so finally which one of the 3 should i choose

get the 1gb but the 5670 is a better choice for you.

if you go 9800GT, go 1gb. the 9800GT is a better performer right now, but is 4 generations old and cannot support newest type of graphics API. right now it doesn't matter, but may in future games.

if you go the 5670 route, it doesn't perform as well as the 9800, but has newer graphics ram (gddr5) as well as support for dx11 which improves how games look. but by running at dx11, it will run slower because of the improved graphics.

The 9800 will run hotter and require more power, but is better for the short term. Depends on when you plan to upgrade the GPU next. If you want to make it last for a few years, i'd go 5670, but for short term id go 9800 1GB

what monitor resolution will you be playing at

You should always go just a bit higher then what you actually need with the power supply , it doesn't hurt to do so and having some extra watts is a good thing because you don't want to find yourself having to upgrade the psu after having it for a short while just because you added a few things to your computer(fans , lights etc.)
If you go with the 9800GT then make sure you go with the 1gb version. If by some chance you were to add some more budget money somehow you can always put it towards a better video card. That is the one component that would add more performance for gaming.
