Which graphic card should i go for ??

Hello,my PC configuration

i3 2100 processor

dh67bl motherboard Intel

gx550w cooler master power supply

23 inch Samsung led

4gb ram....

graphic card options

gtx 560 ti 1gb

ati 6870 1gb

ati 6950 2gb

my preference is ati 6950 2gb. but can a i3 2100 handle a 6950 2gb without bottle necking it.

While not ideal I wouldn't consider the i3 a reason to avoid an HD6950 at 1080p.

ati 6870 1gb is also a great video card. For your setup, it's the good one for you. For your current setup!!!

i think 6950 will bottleneck your cpu so then 6870 will suitable for you.

an i3 can play any game at good fps, its as good and better than a quad core amd 955 for gaming, it takes a 3.7ghz amd quad core to beat it. go for the 6950, at least then your a bit future proofed. you can always upgrade to a core i5 later. especially unning crysis 2 in dx11 mode, you cant do that on a 6850/6870.

3dmark isnt the best example because its not quite the same as realworld results. but its generally within 10%. anyways with a 6950 3d mark 11 has the i5 2500 at a score between 5291-6230. the range here is mostly due to gpu overclocking, the 2500 is the 2500k with out the unlocked multiplyer. the 2500k gets up into the lower 7k range.
the 2100 on the otherhand only gets up to 4700 best case scenario. 4500 is more realistic. so the 2100 will hold you back. if you cant afford a 2500k then maybe a 2300 is possible, it scores up into the 5400s on that card.

your monitor is a 23" - aka 1920x1080 res. That 2GB buffer of ram will be useless to you unless your planning on running that config/GPU on a 45"+ tv.

I'm sure you can pick up a 1GB model of the 6950. But for that config, and if budget is a small constraint - go with the GTX 560Ti. It performs better than the 6870 and the GTX also has PhysX, handy for games that utilize that technology.

And like jyjjy said; I'd agree with him 100%. Infact its a good CPU for gaming.

2Gb gpu ram will kill your 4Gb ram. (2 for GPU, 1 for Windows/App, 1 for gaming... too short)

your a bit confused about ram. the ram on your video card doesnt in any way take away from your systems ram.
as long as you only play games when you play games your fine with 4 GB system.
right now ive got starcraft going and netflix, plus the normal windows stuff. like antispyware, antivirus, steam, mouse drivers, etc. even with all that im barely over 4GB, closing netflix takes me to about 3.5, closing this browser would give me about another gig(i have a lot of tabs open). some games use more ram than starcraft II does but even crysis 2 runs fine on my other computer that only has 4GB.
now if you want to do more that just game when your on the computer i say spend another $20 and get 8GB. you dont need the fastest stuff around. ddr3 1333 runs 97% as fast in games as ddr3 1866 does. so ignoring speeds is recomended for gamers.

the 1GB will be bottlenecked the 2GB will be too.

the 2GB of DDR5 ram is for hooking the card up to large monitor formats such as 46" + tv's. if your not interested in hooking it up to large format tv's, then the 1GB of DDR5 on the 6950 is more than enough for ANY game. By any i mean it'll eat up any thing you can throw at it.

get GTX560Ti if on a budget

if no budget get the 6950 1GB model, not the 2GB
if by any chance you are throwing away the 23" monitor for a 32"+ tv then get the 2GB model.

wait a min, i also forgot , where day live? and what are the prices you're looking at right now?
on another note; the 6950 is built with a different GPU chip architecture than the 6870. The 6950 might have 2GB of ram onboard but it 'll only utilize 1GB max on the monitor you're thinking of hooking it upto. the other GB of onboard GPU memory won't help in any way with games. So all-in-all, the extra GB of ram is to help with monitor/display resolution not with detail/eye candy.

yeah sure.....all you will ever need is 1gb vram.......no game will ever use any more than that..........just like we never needed more than 640k memory. You have to think about the future, i would just get the 2gb version its not even that much more expensive. Some games with large texture packs do require more than 1gb, so having 2gb is not useless.

so i suppose you can pisck up the 2GB 6950. I don't know if the manufacturers have put a lock on the BIOS modding but those who picked up the first batch of 6950 flashed the BIOS successfully to a 6970 BIOS ... could shoot you a link of a pal who did it.

Seriously don't go for a i3 they are bad for gaming and not future proof in anyway.
