I understood that there is no need for a supercard for basic video edit and some graphics and Photoshop
.[hardly any games and no OC]

I was thinking of the 8600GT with 512 mem.but noticed the 2600HD in the " Best of' of few meg's[not for gamers].

and with all the new harvest of cards like the 9600GT[?]...What should I go for ? and with what MOBO ?

I think Ill be spending ~1200 W/O the 22" screen and softs and will not OC.

Will appriciate your imput very much

if you're not going to be gaming, you don't even need to spend over $100. Get an ATI HD3450 or 3650. Or if you prefer Nvidia, get an 8400GS. Video editing and photoshop is more cpu intensive than gpu intensive.

Actually an HD3650 would be the card for you if you're not interested in gaming. It has very low power consumption and great video decoding capabilities.

Personally I would go with the ATI line. I think right now cpu is the way to go, however, we need to keep the competition heavy on intel that way we keep getting good prices on components. If you don't game then ATI is better because less power consumption. Smaller core architecture 55nm. I agree that the nvidia's will out perform the ati's in 3d performance, but you aren't doing that kinda thing. :p 3850 if you can get them cheap enough.

Yeah, The 3450/3650 are good cards.

If you are not gaming, you don't want to spend too much on an overly powerful card. Not only is it wasted money, but it will consume more power which adds noise through overall great cooling requirements for the system as well as operational costs.
