Which Graphics card should I pick?

Hey guys!

I want to know in your opinion which graphics card would you pick if you were planning on doing macro programming, using Visual Studio 2012, compiling, using Adobe Suite, working on big programs, multitasking and the works. Really won't need it for gaming that much.
I was thinking about getting the AMD Radeon HD 7970 but don't know if I need that powerful of a graphics card to do all that I mentioned. Please advise

Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 Deluxe
Case: NZXT Phantom Big-Tower black

I don't anything about that macro programming stuff. But you should probably get a GPU with lots of vram. The 7970 has 3gb and that's alot. I think that the programming and rendering stuff works better with nVidia cards. The 680 and 670 4GB cards are in the same price class. They have cuda cores, 3D and all that shit.
