Which graphics card?

I'm in the process of building a new desktop and have come to a bit of an impasse regarding which graphics card to choose!

The spec of the system will be AMD FX 9590, CLC liquid cooled, 32GB RAM, M.2 SSD HD.

The system will be used predominantly for photo and 4K video editing using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop etc. Watching the odd HD film and playing the odd game (Assassins creed type stuff).

Am I right in thinking that video editing is slightly less GPU intensive than gaming and a mid range graphics card should be more than adequate for video editing?

There's so many technologies connected with graphics cards my head is hurting :D and really not sure what card I should opt for. My budget provisionally is £150-£200 but not set in stone!

Any advice greatly recieved!!

Unless you have a specific need for CUDA, skip the 960 and get a 380 or 380X. They are both 10+% over the 960 in terms of performance.
I also highly recommend an i7 or Xeon over the 9590.

Because most editing software now support GPU rendering, the CPU is less important than it used to be. That being said, for the video and photo editing stuff, I'd say a GTX960 would do it. However, I must say that recent Assassin's Creed games have a very heavy load in terms of graphics, so you might not run it that well. At 1080p, AC : Syndicate recommends a card with at least 3gb of Vram. You could get a GTX960 4gb version, like the EVGA GTX 960 at 187,98£.

If you had a higher budget, I might recommend an R9 390, for the 8gb of Vram and good performance, like the Sapphire R9 390 Nitro at 259,98£

Thanks SkyMembrane, funnily enough I have been looking at a Gigabyte GTX960 4GB version. Although considering this isn't going to be a cheap system and bar some additional storage as and when, I don't really wanna be upgrading components anytime soon, I might be starting to sway towards a 8gb vram option!
