Question Which graphics card

I am running an AMD Phenom II x4 (940), with 8gb ram.

I currently have a GTX 660. What card would be good upgrade without costing too much or bottlenecking?

I would get a whole new core , that setup is very outdated.

Sadly that is not currently an option, otherwise I would be doing exactly that.

I can afford a GPU now. Maybe upgrade completely in a year's time.

Any new GPU would, IMHO, simply bottleneck your current CPU. I would not recommend upgrading your current GPU, but save up for a new system. Anything else would constitute throwing good money after bad.

Yeah, what's an approximate timeline for when you might be able to upgrade CPU+mobo+RAM? That will determine whether to buy a new GPU now or wait.
