Hi guys. I was just wondering which graphics card i should go with, as i am soon purchasing an Alienware Aurora R3 computer. The selection of cards is as follows;
SLI - Dual 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX460
1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 580
Dual 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6950
4GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6990

I want to be able to play games such as RIFT, Skyrim when its released and modern warfare 3 on the highest settings, with high frame rates on 1920x1080 resolution. thanks

If you can afford it, the 6990. But price wise, you'll get about the same performance with dual 6950's. I built my system with 2 6950's since it was cheaper for the same performance. The only way the 6990 will really benefit you with the 4 gigs of ram is if you plan on gaming with multiple monitors at resolutions higher than 1080p.

Skyrim is a console based game so i guess that one should be ok. Rift... not sure but i think its also a light game.

A 6950 would be a good option. I would go 580 before 6990 on the other hand, since you could SLI another 580 (assuming that alienware allows that on motherboard and psu) in the future, but its better not to rely on multi gpu setups since not all games use them.

Personally im going SLI 560 Ti.
